Dark Matter

This idea can be traced back to Einstein's conclusion that gravity is essentially curvature in spacetime.  Ergo spacetime is flexible.

So every time we observe curvature in spacetime we believe it's caused by matter, since we know matter distorts spacetime.  That's like saying bears make noise and I heard a noise so it must be a bear.  A more logical cause for curvature in spacetime is the natural variation in spacetime density as a result of the big bang, as in the variability in the cosmic microwave background.  Puffs of spacetime originating at the big bang went on to form nebulae and smoke rings went on to form galaxies as they represent more dense (or curved) spacetime, and matter is attracted and retained by this curvature which then holds together the galaxies and nebulae.  Or so it would seem.
